Volunteering

CMHA is a volunteer-driven organization.

Why Volunteer?

When asked why they volunteer for CMHA, people often state it is because they enjoy the volunteering they do, are learning new skills, are giving back to the community, feel good about themselves through their volunteering and are having fun. Many believe that they have gained by being more knowledgeable about mental health and mental illness.

Many of the volunteers are either in post-secondary education, retired, working full or part time and some are looking to hone skills before entering or re-entering the work force.

How can you make a difference to CMHA and to those with a mental illness?

CMHA is about promoting and assisting recovery. About seeing people’s potential not their disability. Our response is uniquely wide-ranging (from prevention, education, and information services, right through to rehabilitation and community support to those recovering from illness) and innovative (we have a track record of developing many of the most effective new approaches available in the community today).

If you’re considering making a donation, chances are that you’ve come into contact with our organization already. Maybe you’ve attended one of our workshops, or you’re the family member of someone with mental illness. Whatever your connection, if we’ve piqued your interest, we invite you to find out more about our work and us. With your help we can help even more people reach their goals and potential.
