Who We Are:
Canadian Mental Health Association, Mid Island Branch, is part of a National non-profit organization, which is built upon the principles of equality and partnership. It is a client-focused organization with open access to programs and services where persons involved in the mental health system are employed in meaningful work, and fulfill their unique potential. It is an organization where people are able to increase control over and improve their mental health and quality of life.
The strength of our organization is in its people. We treat all people with honesty, trust and respect, and seek every opportunity to preserve human dignity through equality, fairness and respecting freedom of choice. The primary focus of this organization is the rights and needs of persons involved in the mental health system.

Key Areas of Emphasis:
Our mission is achieved through devoting resources to achieving goals in five key areas of emphasis:
I. Programs and Services
By programs and services we mean all efforts to provide comprehensive initiatives that address the needs of the persons involved in the mental health system within the communities of the Mid-Island Area.
II. Outreach and Advocacy
By outreach and advocacy we mean all efforts that ensure support and a voice for the persons involved in the mental health system in areas that impact their health and quality of life. Ideally, the outreach and advocacy programs are developed, implemented, driven, supported, and staffed by persons involved in the mental health system.
III. Education and Awareness
By education and awareness we mean all efforts that are aimed at increasing individual and community knowledge and understanding of mental health issues and persons involved in the mental health system The end of the stigma associated with mental illness and persons involved in the mental health system is our priority.
IV. Resource Generation
By resource generation we mean all efforts to identify and secure the resources necessary for the successful achievement of the CMHA Mid Island Branch plan. This includes the human, financial, material, equipment and/or time required to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate future initiatives. This also means the monitoring and evaluation of the provision and allocation of resources to ensure that they are sufficient to achieve our organizational Mission.
V. Partnerships
By partnerships we mean all efforts at creating and maintaining partnerships with like-minded and like-motivated agencies in the mutual achievement of our goals. This is particularly focused on the long-term efforts in the communities we serve to ensure sufficient housing, transportation, and work opportunities for persons involved in the mental health system of mental health services. Our aim is to enable individuals and groups to increase control over and enhance their mental health and quality of life.
